Its own colour, calibrated per device
Vesper Cine doesn't rely on the phone's colour. Each supported phone is calibrated individually, so colours stay accurate and skin tones natural from your first take.
Cinema camera for Android
Vesper Cine reads your phone's RAW sensor data and develops it on the GPU, in real time, into true Apple Log. No sharpening, smoothing or tone mapping baked in. Just a clean, gradeable image.

The pipeline
How does Vesper Cine record Apple Log on a phone? It skips the phone's video processor completely. The app takes the sensor's RAW data and develops every frame itself on the GPU, with its own colour science, before encoding it.
Capture
RAW10 straight off the sensor, with its real black and white levels and lens-shading map. Nothing has been processed yet.
Colour
Calibrated for each supported phone: dual-illuminant colour matrices, Kelvin and tint, and hot-pixel repair.
Develop
HQ oversampling from the full sensor, motion-adaptive noise reduction and lens correction, every frame on the Vulkan GPU.
Encode
Scene-linear light mapped to the Apple Log curve in the Rec.2020 gamut. Highlights roll off to neutral instead of turning magenta.
Record
Main10 files with AAC audio, tagged so your editor reads the colour correctly, saved to your phone.

Features
The image controls and monitoring tools you would expect on a dedicated cinema camera, running on the phone in your pocket.
01 · Colour science
Vesper Cine doesn't rely on the phone's colour. Each supported phone is calibrated individually, so colours stay accurate and skin tones natural from your first take.
02 · HQ oversampling
Detail is gathered from the whole sensor and anti-aliased down to the output resolution, giving fine texture without moiré or the brittle edges of digital sharpening.
03 · Noise reduction
Temporal noise reduction aligns frames and backs off where things move, using a noise model measured from the sensor. Grain stays organic in low light.
04 · Monitoring
False colour, focus peaking, zebra, waveform and a 3× magnifier, all on a Rec.709 preview of your Log image.
05 · Exposure
When exposure is automatic, it works like a cinematographer would: native ISO first, then shutter (up to 180°), and only then extra gain. You get the least noise for the light you have.
06 · Frame rates
Shoot at the cadence your project needs, from cinematic 24 to smooth slow motion at 60.
07 · Codecs
Efficient 10-bit Main10 recording with selectable quality levels. Files stay small enough for a phone and are ready for DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro.
Log vs graded
Apple Log looks flat straight out of the camera because it keeps the full tonal range for you to shape. Drag the handle to compare an ungraded frame with the same frame after grading.
Supported devices
Which phones does Vesper Cine support? Right now, the Google Pixel 10. Because the colour science is calibrated per device, a phone is added only once it has been measured and tested.
| Device | Status | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 10 | Supported | Apple Log · Rec.2020 · 1080p · 24–60 fps · HEVC / AV1 10-bit |
| Other Pixel models | Not yet | Each one needs its own calibration. No dates have been announced. |
Pricing

FAQ
Vesper Cine currently supports the Google Pixel 10. Each supported phone gets its own colour calibration, so other models are added only after they have been calibrated and tested.
Vesper Cine encodes to the published Apple Log curve with Rec.2020 primaries, so you grade it the same way. In DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or any app that supports Apple Log, set the input colour space to Apple Log and the gamut to Rec.2020.
No. It captures RAW sensor data and develops it in real time on the phone's GPU, then records a 10-bit HEVC or AV1 file in Apple Log. You get the latitude of a RAW-based pipeline with files that are small and edit like normal video.
Vesper Cine records 1080p, oversampled from the full sensor for detail. A native 4K (UHD) path is on the roadmap.
Expose so that 18% grey reads at about 0.49, which shows as the green band in false colour. By default there are about 5.5 stops of highlight headroom above middle grey, and clipped highlights fade to neutral.
That's intended. Log footage keeps the full tonal range so you can grade it. Use the built-in Rec.709 preview while shooting, then apply an Apple Log to Rec.709 conversion or your own grade in post.
Developing RAW video in real time is demanding. Vesper Cine watches Android's thermal forecast and steps its processing down gradually as the phone heats up. It keeps recording at minimal processing when hot, and stops only at the critical limit.
No. All processing happens on the phone. The app uses the camera and microphone only to record, saves files to your device, and collects no personal data. See the privacy policy.
